August Events 2011

She’s been at the forefront of just about every major breaking news story in the past 20 years. Now media powerhouse and mum, Tracey Spicer, will share her stories – and favourite dishes – as host of the next ‘Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner’ at Gerringong’s bellachara boutique hotel on Thursday August 18.

After the sell-out success of the July event hosted by Monica Trapaga, Tracey, one of Australia’s most versatile media personalities, will lead dinner guests through her personally hand-picked menu of sumptuous dishes inspired by love, travel, family and friends - with a side of the kind of stories you don’t hear on the nightly news!

“You can barely open a newspaper, turn on the radio or TV or visit twitter without finding our next host sharing the important news and issues of the day,” says bellachara owner and curator of the event series, Gregg Currie.

“The media is in the spotlight like never before at the moment, and being able to have ‘up close and personal’ time with someone who has performed in that realm in so many roles and has real insight, is a rare thing.”

But for Tracey, life is about far more than presenting the news – as she has done in various roles for more than 20 years. After leaving her long-term news anchoring role with Network Ten in a storm of controversy, Tracey has found a whole new world of opportunity.

“I’m passionate about my work and many causes, but my heart and soul is family and the time we get to spend together. We’ve had lots of adventures and these have inspired the menu I’ve chosen for Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner,” she says.

Tracey currently works as a 2UE broadcaster, News Limited columnist, Sky News anchor, and travel writer for Holidays with Kids magazine.

Tracey’s dinner menu is inspired by her romantic elopement to Santorini almost a decade ago (the anniversary of which is the week after the bellachara dinner), travels with the family through Morocco, , and a special homemade ‘thank you’ treat for special friends.

A place at the table for dinner with Tracey Spicer costs $49 per person for a sumptuous three-course meal designed in conjunction with bellachara head chef Dudley Wood, formerly of Café Sydney.

To book a seat please call bellachara on 02 4234 1359. Guests are asked to arrive promptly at 6:30pm for a 7pm start.

Jak’s corner, the supervised kids club, will also provide entertainment. For $10 per child, children will be served a delicious dinner and will have supervised care from 6:30pm. Bookings must be made in advance.

About Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner

bellachara owner Gregg Currie is the mastermind of this unique dinner series, designed to bring some regular ‘big city sparkle’ to the South Coast.

Each month bellachara hands over the role of dinner party host to a prominent personality, known for their great skill, love of food, unique stories or joie de vie.

Our hosts work with our head chef to devise a three-course menu that they would either serve at a dinner party of their own, or reflects their personal tastes or memorable meals. They lead our dinner party guests through the evening with stories and anecdotes and circulate and chat throughout the night, as they would in their own home.

The diverse mix of hosts have to date included: Masterchef Finalist Alvin Quah; Australian food and wine personality Lyndey Milan; UK-born, Australia-based celebrity chef and author Tom Kime; journalist, writer and entertainer Gretel Killeen; Australian and US soapie star Justin Melvey and entertainer Monica Trapaga. Upcoming hosts include media personality and commedianne Wendy Harmer and popular Masterchef finalist Marion Grasby.
