The Perfect Companion for Restaurant Obsessed Australia

optusAustralians are as hungry as ever to dine out and Go Places, a new mobile app from Optus, gives restaurant obsessed Australia what we've been waiting for in one easy to use app.

Exclusive for Optus customers, the app is a great way to find restaurants for foodies on the go whilst also providing access to electronic vouchers which offer a 20 per cent discount off the total bill at selected Frequent Values™ by Entertainment™-listed restaurants, simply by flashing the coupon displayed on a mobile device when asking for the bill.

Optus Go Places also provides a host of additional features for the food fanatic. Nationwide restaurant listings, reviews and ratings via the popular restaurant review site Eatability are all available at your fingertips, and bookings can be made instantly . Optus Go Places also provides directions to your chosen restaurant, using GPS assisted turn-by-turn navigation.

Austin R. Bryan, Director of Optus Digital Media, said, "Australia offers such diversity in great cuisines, but one of the hardest things about heading out for a meal is choosing which restaurant to dine at. With Optus Go Places, we've made things easier by partnering with some of Australia's most respected hospitality service brands to develop an integrated app for all things dining.

"Smartphones are amongst the most treasured possessions for Australians and we've always got them by our side - the Optus Go Places app is the perfect tool for organising a dinner out and connecting with friends on your mobile device, as well as getting a great deal through the electronic vouchers," Mr Bryan said.

Recently released data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics* shows Australians are passionate about dining out, with 3.1 per cent of all expenditure attributed to eating out, compared to 2.1 per cent from the preceding study. This equates to an average spend per week increase from $19.98 in 2004/5to $28.30 in 2009/10.

Optus Go Places will be free to download for Android, selected Nokia Symbian Touch and BlackBerry users, while an iPhone version will follow shortly. Access to the electronic voucher service will be available for a one-off fee of $39.99 per year. Customers can also buy casual-use vouchers for $2.99 each, for use within 24 hours of purchase. Optus customers will enjoy free data when using the Optus Go Places app.
