Is your life running you ragged?

Are you being pulled from pillar to post?

You find time to take care of your children, your home, your parents, your job - but what about yourself? If your balancing act needs a tune up, read on to achieve better work- life balance & most importantly better health. Also if you want a second opinion I've included a free mini health review at the end of this article - give it a try!

The concept of "me time" can be little more than a distant memory for many women. It is hard to catch your breath between spending time with your children; housework, working, and god forbid perhaps catching a date with your partner.

There are weeks when it is easy to feel like you are running 110% with no time to stop! "Running on Empty" - If this sounds like your life, you're in good company.

Often patients comment that

"The last thing on my list is time for me, and the lack of down time often makes me feel overwhelmed and ready to crack".

It's not unusual for us to feel overwhelmed from time to time, but if your life is chronically out of balance, you need to make changes.

Which of these apply to you?
I don't sleep properly
I don't have the space to take at least 30min of peace a day
I don't get a chance to eat nutritious foods
I feel sluggish
I am tired all the time
I gain weight quickly
I suffer from regular headaches
I feel bloated all the time
I feel moody & anxious
I cry often

If you said yes to more than four (4) of the questions in the box, your lifestyle may need some fine tuning and your health a bit of assistance.  But where do you start?

Take a couple of day's off immediately to regroup & relax.  Ok, yes I'm dreaming but you do need to make healthy changes, now!

Without making the changes to reclaiming your life, everything, including your health will get worse, not better. Allowing your life to over-run you week after week, year after year can lead to exhaustion, depression and anxiety disorders. Your health, your family & your career will suffer as a result.

So how do you claim your life back?

Identify what your hurdles are: you can't improve your circumstances until you identify what the issues are. This process takes time & can change as you progress - keep an open mind & be prepared to accept new directions.

Diarise time for yourself: Part of the process of finding balance in your life is granting yourself a little time to do something each day that you enjoy doing - even 15min will make a difference. Spending time alone allows you to reconnect with yourself & everything else flows from that.

Write an action plan: Next to your list of hurdles, write a 'plan of attack'. What can you do to change the situation? What positive influences can I bring into my life to make things different?

Don't wait It's crucial to regain control over your life now. Waiting until things get on top of you is not ideal. There never is going to be an ideal time to challenge the situation. Just jump in and do it, whatever it is. It helps you be who you are, and you'll feel better for it in the end.

Think outside the box: Look for creative solutions that may involve friends & family.

Improve your diet: Have you been eating on the run - living on take away, or snacking on last night's pizza? These cravings are most likely resulting from adrenal burnout - 'listen' to your body. Cravings can be controlled, I can explain how.

Improving your health: Take a good look at your health - if you are tired all the time, you may need to check your iron or thyroid levels. Start focusing on your health - if you are ignoring all those annoying signs & symptoms such as constipation, bloating, migraines, weight gain, insomnia, weight gain etc - DONT! Your health is the key to achieving your goals. You have one body that will serve you well if you look after it!

Reclaiming your life back may not take as long as you might think. Acknowledging the need, for most of my clients, is half the battle.

Once you decide that you are important enough to do it, you will realize that your challenges are purely logistical hurdles.

Don't just survive; I encourage you to live life!
